Core behaviours explained: how we work is just as important as what we do.

Our core behaviours apply to everyone in Team Robertson and are built around our five principles: we listen, we are professional, we take responsibility, we are determined to succeed, we are one team.

They’re not role specific but describe the abilities or attributes which drive high performance. This gives everyone in Team Robertson a common language to talk about how we do things, not just what we do.

In turn we can consistently and objectively observe and measure individual performance across the organisation, identify learning and development needs and work towards our individual development goals.

Step 1

Meet with your People Leader regularly to set job role objectives using the core behaviours as a starting point: arrange a monthly 1-2-1 and a formal check-in of your progress towards the objectives set in your Performance Review every 6 months as part of the performance cycle.

Step 2

Discuss how your SMART objectives align to our organisational purpose and principles – some may contain elements of all five principles, while others relate to only two or three. Familiarise yourself with the relevant statements. If you commit to developing and demonstrating these behaviours, you’re on your way to achieving your objectives in line with the Robertson Way.

Step 3

Regularly reflect on how you show these behaviours at work – ask colleagues, customers and your People Leader for feedback wherever you can.
